Mermaid Spirits is a distillery located in Huntingdon Valley, Pennsylvania. We produce hand crafted rum and vodka to our special recipes.
Dr. David Johnston is the owner and operator of Mermaid Spirits. As a trained research scientist with a degree in food biochemistry, he is no stranger to the processes of distillation and fermentation. After many years in his field, David wanted to combine his passion for science and good drinks to create the most perfect spirits. “I wanted to make something you could drink instead of drive,” he likes to joke, since most of his research has centered around fuel ethanol. He runs his business with the help of his wife, Dr. Edna Ramirez, and their two children. Stop by the store and David will be there to answer all your questions and serve you a sample!
