Say Hello, Shadyside! Beer, wine, spirits and fresh produce in one place

What a time to be alive!

Pennsylvania Libations continues to innovate in the world of alcoholic beverages. So, when we recently opened a new format in Pittsburgh’s iconic Shadyside neighborhood—one that offers beer, wine and spirits, along with farm-fresh produce and other food staples all under one roof—we were pretty excited. The new Pennsylvania Libations – Shadyside location at 5530 Walnut Street—the former site of the old GNC Store—has been warmly received by area residents.

For fans of Pennsylvania craft distilled spirits like bourbon, rye whiskey, gin and vodka, the store offers the same dedication to quality and ‘try before you buy’ format that customers have come to expect after over five years of visiting the flagship location on Penn Avenue. Wine lovers who have come to appreciate the wide selection of local craft products at the Wine Shop at 1700 Penn Ave will appreciate the wide selection of Pennsylvania-made wines. And those on the craft beer scene will love the selection of locally brewed beers from the likes of Helltown and Butler Brew Works.

Above: Manager Hannah Maitland has been with the company for two years. “It’s an exciting time to work in the beverage industry,” Hannah said.

“I couldn’t be prouder of our team for launching this new and innovative concept,” said Pennsylvania Libations Owner Christian Simmons. “Our goal is to offer Pennsylvanians a bespoke craft drinks experience. This is another step that allows more customers to see all of the high-quality beverages this state has to offer.”Innovation is at the core of what we do here at Pennsylvania Libations. We were the first retail spirits shop to operate in the state dedicated to craft, local distilled products. Our Reading Terminal Market location pioneered the idea of combining craft wine and spirits from across the state into one convenient assortment. The 1700 taproom and bar—a collaboration with Helltown Brewing—includes not only a 25-tap state-of-the-art system, but also the single largest selection of craft Pennsylvania-made spirits in the world behind the bar. Now, the Pennsylvania Libations team has launched yet another new concept—one that has combined beer, wine and spirits sales with locally-produced food items. #EatLocal and #DrinkLocal all in one place!Simmons said the team will continue to innovate and find new ways to surprise and delight customers with new offerings. One area of focus is improving the online shopping experience to make it even easier for drinks lovers in the commonwealth to expand their palates.
